Do You Have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Purchased Through the Auxiliary’s Government
CLP Program Via SoftChoice?

Good news as there is now an upgrade to Acrobat v7.0 for those Members
possessing Acrobat v6.0 Pro or Standard. All Acrobat v6.0 licenses that had
maintenance (upgrade plan) are covered and will get the free upgrade from
SoftChoice. All licenses that are Acrobat v6.0 with no upgrade plan must be
upgraded to v7.0 at the upgrade cost if they wish to have the most current
version. The v.7.0 upgrade license and the new license is available for
anyone not eligible for the free upgrade through contacting Softchoice at
1-877-FED-7638 (1-877-333-7638).

Members eligible for the free upgrade should see their CD Media arriving by
the end of next week (25 March). The serial numbers to activate the new
product are available to Auxiliarist on the “inside” Main page of the
National eDirectory HYPERLINK
"http://www.auxedirectory.org/"http://www.auxedirectory.org/ (simply click
"Announcements" on the left panel after you log into the eDirectory).

Good News for Travel Reimbursement

Joint efforts by OCX, DC-I Jeff Mahl, D7 DIRAUX, PSC, and FINCEN working
together for the past year, have resulted in the launch of a new online
system. CG Personal Support Command at Topeka can now provide Travel
Voucher Summary (TVS) reports directly to Auxiliary members using the
Internet.

What is a Travel Voucher Summary? How many times have you seen a deposit in
your bank account for CG reimbursed travel and wondered what exactly was
covered in this mysterious amount? A TVS is a 3-4 page report, generated
when you submit a Travel Claim (note this is for Travel only ... not Patrol
Orders), that breaks your travel down by line items. The first page of the
report shows a summary of your reimbursements and the "Total Amount Payable
and Due Member" which is the amount that you are getting reimbursed.
Subsequent pages show your reimbursement broken down daily by per diem
(hotels and meals), travel (car...mileage, etc.), and other "Approved
Reimbursable Expenses" (travel agent fees, rental car, lodging taxes, tolls,
etc.).

How do I obtain my reports? Go to: HYPERLINK
"https://www.fincen.uscg.mil/tvs_aux/"https://www.fincen.uscg.mil/tvs_aux/
and put in your social security number, then press the submit TVS Search
button. You will be taken to a listing of your recent travel claims (within
the past 90 days). You can then click on any one to obtain the TVS for that
travel date. Unfortunately, social security numbers must be used ... but
please note that this is a secure website. Like the old commercial
said..."Try it...You'll like it"!!!

BoatUS Foundation Competition

Boat/US Foundation is sponsoring a competition on Innovations in Life Jacket
Design. The goal is to encourage and solicit innovative ideas and new
technology to design a life jacket that the majority of average boaters
might wear. The competition starts 31 March 2005 and ends 15 December 2005.
The winner will be announced at the Miami International Boat Show, Feb.
2006.

Design criteria is not obliged to meet US Coast Guard approval requirements
to win. However, the necessary design elements include: wearability,
reliability, innovation, and cost (a retail target of $25-30 is encouraged
but not mandatory). More traditional designs submitted may be forwarded to
the US Coast Guard for review and potential financial assistance in having
the design tested at Underwriters Laboratories.

The winner receives $5,000. please be advised that if you decide to enter
this contest - for legal and tax purposes, you are doing so as an
individual, and not as a member of the USCGAUX. For more information

New Tool for Program Visitors

There is now a new link on the V-Department Members page that is labeled as
"RBS-Visitation Program Master Partners List". This link opens a new tool
for Program Visitors which is password protected. The tool uses the same
username and password as the National E-Mail Directory at HYPERLINK
"http://www.cgaux.org/cgauxweb/www.auxedirectory.org". If you have not
activated your eDirectory entry yet, make sure you do so at that link in
order to have access to the list. The list is an automated database system
that holds the RBS-Visitation Program Master Partners list. This list
contains the name, address, and contact person for "partners" in the RBS-VP.
Local Auxiliary units are encouraged to identify the primary Auxiliary point
of contact (Flotilla/Division/District) for each of these "partners". It is
similar to the I Want a VSC system you can enter your ZIP Code and pull up a
printable list of partners in your area.

Military Installation Safe Boating Week Initiatives

Ground Safety Officers at military installations have been emailed by
respective headquarters about the availability of Auxiliary safe boating
classes in many areas. Exchange managers on these same installations may be
requesting Auxiliary assistance with in-store VSC item displays as well.
This represents an excellent opportunity to arrange for VSC's and provide
safe boating literature. Flotillas near military installations are
encouraged to contact these individuals to arrange events. Requests
received from installations will be passed on to flotillas through the chain
of leadership and management. We have already received 4 requests for
boating classes from Air Force installations in the first two days and
requests for VSC displays at 10 Army/Air Force exchanges across the country.
Email HYPERLINK

soffers at sbcglobal.net for more information or assistance.

Test Drive Tour

The Coast Guard Office of Boating Safety and Auxiliary National Marketing
Group work with various partners in the boating industry to promote
recreational boating safety. Those partnerships often afford us unique
opportunities to promote boating safety and sign people up for boating
classes and vessel safety checks, promote homeland security, encourage
wearing life jackets, and recruit new members. DCO's/VCO's were briefed
about these tours at N-Train. Experience at 2004 tour stops has been
several boating class enrollments and VSC requests - especially from the
first time boaters, and a few new members. Hours are usually from 9 am
until 5 and they feed our people. This is a first class event at an upscale
facility.

Scheduled locations for which flotilla POCs are needed are:

*	April 9/10, Pier 66, Ft. Lauderdale, FL
*	April 16/17, Homeport Marina, Gulf Shores, AL
*	April 23/24 MarineMax, Seabrook, TX (near Houston)
*	April 30/May 1, Pier 121 Marina, Lewisville, TX (near Dallas).

Other stops for which we just know the general area are:

*	May 14/15 Atlanta, GA
*	May 21/22 Wilmington, DE
*	June 4/5 Atlantic City, NJ
*	June 18/19 New York (City?)
*	June 25/26 Cleveland, OH
*	July 9/10 Minneapolis, MN
*	August 5/7 Seattle, WA

The problem with not having the specific tour location stops in each city
identified is we can only make general area notification to each District
because the actual location is often quite a distance from the city
initially named. Contact HYPERLINK

Online Exam Update – Pass/Fail Information

The staff at DirAux West/NTC has updated the on line exam program.

Over the past year, more and more members reported problems in receiving
grading emails from the on line exam system. In most cases, other than bad
email address, the problem was traced to members’ computer setting for
anti-spam and virus protection programs. Additionally, many members' (ISP)
internet service provider, had installed programs that re-directed email,
which called for the member to review and approve the sender.

Those types of email problems are well beyond the control of DirAux West/NTC
to overcome.

Effective with all exams taken after 03/01/05 a member can check and verify
they have passed or failed any on line exam. Members can go to this link -
HYPERLINK
"http://cgexams.info/testing/checkmypassingscore.asp"http://cgexams.info/tes
ting/checkmypassingscore.asp and enter their member number.

If you have taken and passed any on line exam since 03/01/05 the page will
refresh and show the exam by scrolling down the page.

Again, once a member inputs their member number and presses submit, scroll
down the page to see if a passing grade has been recorded.

This webpage is linked directly to the exam results database and is upgraded
as soon as the exam is graded. Only passed exam are shown.

If you do not see an exam posted, then a passing grade was not recorded.
