NACOs Message on 66th Anniversary of the Auxiliary
Thursday, 23 JUNE 05, marked the 66th anniversary of the formation of the
United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. HYPERLINK
"http://www.auxnaco.org/66thaniversary.htm"Anniversaries are a time of
reflection, to celebrate accomplishments, and rededicate ones self in those
areas that need further improvement. As we enter into the long 4th of July
holiday weekend - one of the busiest for our organization - I ask you to
reflect back on our accomplishments (both personal and organizational), and
celebrate our successes. Moreover, in those areas where we have had
suboptimal results, I ask you to join me in rededicating yourself to make
these areas a success by this time next year. The bottom line is - we must
remain ready, responsive, and resolute, in order for our organization to
continue to serve our country for another 66 years. Thank you for your
dedicated service to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Marketing 101: Analyzing Your Target Market
Dartboards are often used in marketing to represent what is called "target
marketing." You aim your advertising, promotions, and marketing initiatives
in order to reach your targeted audience. But who is your target market
audience in recreational boating safety? Defining your target market is
based upon research and analysis of your local boating statistics then using
that data to profile the demographics of your audience. Find out more in
the May/June issue of Marketing 101.

CY 05 USCGAUX Directory of Services
The CY 05 update of the USCGAUX Directory of Services provides the latest
listings of SLOs, BLA websites, and DIRAUX contact information. It is also
designed to provide readers with a better understanding of our new direction
(transformation) information, as well as to address some of our new mission
sets: i.e. critical infrastructure patrols, land and foot patrols, etc.,
plus MDA as well. This updated version of the Directory incorporates
information to better show our transformation from an organization
previously focused on safety, to one that now gives added attention to
security.

CO2 Cylinder Safety Notice
The U.S. Coast Guard has become aware of a potential problem with
installation of CO2 cylinders that have bayonet tips in inflatable personal
flotation devices (PFDs or life jackets). If a cylinder is not properly
installed, the PFD will not inflate with CO2. The problem may affect several
thousand PFDs, but the Coast Guard is only aware of one incident to date.
