Coast Guard Auxiliary Association is Teaming with Coast Guard Mutual
Assistance to Increase the Funds Available for Auxiliarists and Other Coast
Guard Family Members

The Association continues to receive contributions for Operation Life Ring
to provide disaster assistance funds to our Auxiliary and Coast Guard
personnel affect by the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. We
encourage everyone to continue to donate through Operation Life Ring as well
as other Coast Guard specific programs to provide this needed assistance.

The Association is teaming with Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) to
leverage the donated funds we have available with their funds and those
provided by the Coast Guard Foundation. This will significantly increase the
funds available to all our affected Coast Guard family members. We will work
with CGMA to identify Auxiliarists and guide them and other Coast Guard
family members to CGMA representatives in the Gulf Coast region.

Past Commodore Joseph Taylor remains as a primary contact for Auxiliarists
seeking assistance and in coordinating the distribution of available funds
to meet the urgent needs of our Auxiliarists and Coast Guard personnel
affect by Hurricane Katrina.

Commodore Taylor, as Commodore Vass' on-scene contact for assistance, may be
contacted at (903) 778-2684 home, (214) 460-1084 cell, or via E-mail at
jntaylor34 at earthlink.net to assist with applying for and receiving donated
funds, including those received through Operation Life Ring. He will
maintain liaison with CGMA representatives in the affected areas to help
expedite requests for assistance. Commodore Taylor will coordinate and
assist Auxiliarists as well as other Coast Guard family members that contact
him with obtaining monetary assistance through CGMA.

Operation Life Ring Web Site Up and Running

A web site dedicated to promotion of Operation Life Ring (OLR) is now
operational at www.operationlifering.org . The site will eventually feature
a web log (blog) of Auxilairists working in the devastated areas (or who
suffered from Hurricane Katrina), as well as a photo gallery, copies of all
related news releases, and more. There is also a prominent link to the
CGAuxA web site where donations can be made to the Operation Life Ring
Relief Fund. Remember - 100 percent of the funds received by OLR will go to
benefit Auxiliarists impacted by this tragedy. Also remember -
non-Auxiliarists can donate too, and all donations are tax deductible (check
with your tax advisor for details).

Katrina Recovery Efforts and AUXDATA

Members involved in Katrina recovery efforts should indicate "Katrina
Recovery - KR" in the Remarks Section of the Mission Activity report, ANSC
7030, when reporting any hours involved in those efforts. Members inputting
such activity should ensure that Code "KR" is entered in the Operation
field. Doing this will enable the leadership to determine Auxiliarist
involvement in the Katrina recovery. See AUXDATA Update #18 (Adobe AcrobatT
format, 83KB) that covers these procedures, link below.
