RBS Device Approval and Award Criteria

The NEXCOM has approved the criterion, recently developed by an RBS
Directorate committee, for members to earn a new device. Called the
Recreational Boating Safety Device (RBS) Device, it is intended to recognize
members who extraordinarily support the Auxiliary's programs and activities
within, or related to, the traditional RBS missions and programs. The
requirements for award of this device are found by clicking on the following
hyperlink: HYPERLINK
"http://www.auxbdept.org/RBS-DEVICE.pdf"www.auxBdept.org/RBS-DEVICE.pdf. It
is hoped that the earning of this new device will be a source of pride to
our members who choose to devote their resources and efforts toward
recreational boating safety.

AUXPLUS_PE Test Begins

Over the past 15 months, the I and E Departments have been working together
to deliver to every Flotilla an easy-to-use database tool for the permanent
tracking of all Auxiliary public education students. Known as AUXPLUS-PE,
the software is now in the testing stage. We have asked all DSO-PE to
identify 2 Flotillas in each District who will give this program a field
evaluation between now and the end of December. Based on their feedback, we
will make any necessary "tweaks" and will be releasing it to the entire
Auxiliary at N-Train 2006. Our primary objective has been to keep it as
simple as possible and yet enable the central storage of all national PE
records. So, in the future, when someone calls any of us for a lost card or
certificate, we'll be able to instantly find them and provide even better
service. In addition, AUXPLUS-PE includes added features to enable you to
print out student rosters, completion letters, completion certificates, and
course completion cards.

Donations Needed: Operation Life Ring Program

Auxiliary members, as well as flotillas, divisions, and districts, are urged
to donate whatever they can afford to OPERATION LIFE RING (OLR) , to assist
their shipmates in the Gulf Coast region whose lives have been devastated by
Hurricane Katrina. Donations can be accepted from non-Auxiliary members and
corporations.

As of this date, almost $40,000 has been donated.

Visit HYPERLINK "http://www.operationlifering.org/"www.operationlifering.org
and click on the "Donate Now " button to donate by credit card.

Donations can also be made by check. The check should be made payable to
"CGAuxA, Inc." Be sure to indicate on the check or cover letter that the
funds are specifically for OPERATION LIFE RING so we can account for them
properly. Mail the donation to:

Coast Guard Auxiliary Association, Inc.
Coast Guard Auxiliary Center
ATTN: Operation Life Ring
9449 Watson Industrial Park
St. Louis, MO 63126

Remember - 100 percent of the funds received by OLR will go to benefit
Auxiliarists impacted by this tragedy, and donations are usually tax
deductible (see your tax advisor for details).
