Secretary Chertoff Announces Immediate Measures to Secure U.S. Ports

April 25, 2006 - Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announced
today that the Department is taking significant steps to enhance security by
checking the backgrounds of port workers.

ABC - Just One More! Campaign

The days are getting warmer and longer, spring is in the air, and the
boating season is rapidly approaching. Recreational boaters everywhere are
thinking about getting back on the water, whether for skiing, wakeboarding,
fishing, or paddling. Their boats are being readied for the season, their
sporting gear is being taken out of the closet, and the family is preparing
for summer fun. How can we capitalize on this momentum? By offering
anAmerica's Boating Course and participating in the Education Department's
ABC - Just One More! campaign.

The Public Affairs Department invites entries for the 2006 PA, PB and Photo

DHS Names Lead Federal Officials for the 2006 Storm Season

The Department of Homeland Security announced today the unprecedented
predesignation of five teams that will coordinate the Federal government’s
role in support of state and local governments in preparing for, and
responding to, major natural disasters this storm season. In total, 27
Federal officials have been appointed, each with unique expertise and
considerable experience.

Combined Federal Campaign

The Coast Guard Auxiliary Association (CGAuxA) has participated in the
Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) for many years. One hundred percent of the
funds given to the Association through the CFC are used to support the
Auxiliary. Generous CFC contributions, combined with other gifts, helped us
fund our projects throughout the nation last year. For those who would like
to contribute, please remember the Association's new CFC number is 2168. For
more information please contact the CGAuxA.

Website Addresses Re-entry from Mexico/Canada

Recreational boaters going out of the country to Canada and/or Mexico are
now encountering changing re-entry requirements as they return in their
private vessels to the U.S. To facilitate the ease of return into the
country, the U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection service now provides a
webpage with guidance for recreational boaters returning to the U.S. from
Mexico and/or Canada.

NACON (National Conference) 2006 Announced

NACON 2006 logo
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary 2006 National Conference webpage is now
online. You will find a registration form to download and submit by mail, an
online registration form, conference hotel information, travel information
and local area information. Register early for the conference to take
advantage of the Early Bird Registration rate.

Early Bird Conference registration ends July 31.  Hotel Group Rate good
until August 12.
