New Leadership Role for Coast Guard Auxiliary

Excellence in mission execution is the foundation of my commandants intent
and will factor into all decisions. The contributions of the Auxiliary to
Coast Guard mission execution are significant and invaluable. I have
therefore decided to include the Auxiliary in my senior advisory team.

It is with great pleasure that I announce that National Commodore Gene
Seibert will be the first Auxiliary member of the Coast Guard Leadership
Council. Commodore Seibert will join the Vice Commandant, Chief of Staff,
Area Commanders, MCPOCG and Senior SES Rep in advising me on all issues of
strategic importance.

Commodore Seibert is uniquely qualified to serve on the Leadership Council.
Since joining the auxiliary in 1984, he has served in all elected positions
and in numerous critical staff assignments. As the National Commodore he has
guided our Auxiliary through transformational change with a steady hand and
tremendous dedication to service. COMO Seibert is a registered member of the
National Contract Management Association and he holds advanced degrees in
procurement and international contracting. After 34 years of service, he
recently retired from Lucent Technologies, where he served as Director,
International, Government and Domestic Contract Management.

We welcome COMO Seibert to the Leadership Council.

Internet release authorized.

ADM Thad Allen, Commandant, sends.

Beacon Insurance Story Update

In the last issue of the HYPERLINK
"http://www.cgauxa.org/pages/beacon.html"Beacon, there was the announcement
of the availability of boat insurance from McGriff, Seibels and Williams. We
have been advised by McGriff, Seibels & Williams that inadvertently there
was an exclusion left out of the announcement. St Paul Fire and Marine have
placed an exclusion in the insuring of any vessel in the five boroughs of
New York (Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Bronx and Manhattan). In
addition, there is a problem with the 800-763-8777 number for Alaska &
Hawaii. Please use the link on the HYPERLINK "http://shopauxiliary.com/"Shop
Auxiliary site for the time being. On behalf of the Association, we
apologize and hope that you were not inconvenienced.

Travel Made Easy

With the online access to your Travel Voucher Summary (TVS) system restored,
there are now three important resources to make CG travel reimbursement much
easier. Start the process with the "smart" HYPERLINK
"http://forms.cgaux.org/archive/dd1351-2f.pdf"DD-1351-2 (PDF: 120 KB / 2
pages) which reviews your travel submission electronically, looking for
common errors before you even send it. That helps to reduce the processing
time, which means quicker payments. The online HYPERLINK
"https://www.fincen.uscg.mil/secure/TravelPay/TPQuery.htm"Travel Payment
Inquiry will show you when the deposit is made to your bank account. Then
you can review the actual details of your payment via the online HYPERLINK
"https://www.fincen.uscg.mil/tvs_aux/"TVS system, to be sure you were
properly reimbursed. It's the easy and accurate way to process your CG
Travel (not Patrol Order) claims.

Operation Lifering

As a result of the unprecedented devastation and the resulting catastrophe
created by Hurricane Katrina last year, HYPERLINK
"http://www.operationlifering.org/"Operation Life Ring was launched with
contributions of over $125,000. June 1, 2006 marked the beginning of this
year's hurricane season. HYPERLINK

encourage your continuing support (PDF: 120 KB / 1 page) of Operation Life
Ring so that we may meet the urgent needs of our members and Coast Guard
families as they may arise.
