AuxPlus PE Now Available for Flotilla Use
AuxPlus PE, the new Public Education utility, is now available for flotilla
use. In addition to keeping flotilla PE records in an easy to use database,
added features include: printable class schedules, welcome letters, wallet
cards, certificates, and more. Available for Mac or PC, it is recommended
the narrated, self running overview tutorial be downloaded first, then the
actual AuxPlus PE program. See how this new program can help organize your
flotilla PE records.

BoatU.S. Foundation Safety Grants
The BoatU.S. Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2007 Boating
Boating Safety Grant Program. With $50,000 of funding available, the
selection committee is looking for new and innovative ideas that will rise
to the top during this competitive process. The deadline for submitting an
application is November 1, 2006.

New Navigator Now Available
The Summer 2006 issue of Navigator is now available. Members should receive

E-Learning Update
SkillSoft on-line learning courses are now available to Auxiliarists. These
courses are very well suited for Auxiliarists with Information Technology
learning needs, but can be a helpful tool in other areas of personal
development. Instructions on how to secure a SkillSoft license can be found

Two Important New RBS Brochures at ANSC
A PE SpeedGram (PDF: 40 KB / 1 page) introduces two informative new RBS
(Recreational Boating Safety) brochures, part of You're In Command, now in
stock at ANSC (Auxiliary National Supply Center). One of these brochures
addresses the risk of power boat propeller injuries and the second provides
information about the wide array of life jackets available to boaters,
including high risk boaters. These brochures can be used for Public
Education, Program Visitors, Vessel Examiners, and any Public Affairs
activities.

Increase ABC Interest and Participation
Many flotillas would like to add "Just One More!" ABC (America's Boating
Course) class to their public education schedule, but have expressed concern
that they have a hard time filling the classes they do have scheduled. Read
how one division in 8ER approached, planned and solved that problem,
resulting in over 100 people in ABC classes.

Auxiliarists Needed to Help Regional Exam Centers with Surge Operations
During the National Commodore's last quarterly briefing with Admiral Collins
(then Commandant of the Coast Guard) and subsequently confirmed by Admiral
Allen, Commandant of the Coast Guard, we have identified a critical USCG
need for Auxiliary support around the new requirement that all Merchant
Mariners present themselves to the Coast Guard for ID verification and
fingerprinting. Read the current issue of OnCourse to learn more about this
critical need and how you can help.
